INTERVIEW: Why Steve Porcaro Left Toto After "The Seventh One"
(4) Toto Steve Porcaro Talks About The Seventh One & Taking a Step Back
I love talking about layers and band who have many – Toto is one of those bands. They were also a band with four lead singers. In the beginning Bobby Kimball, Steve Lukather, David Paich and Steve Porcaro. Fast forward 40 years and the latter three are still with the band but they still have four singers with Joseph Williams replacing Bobby Kimball who is now on his own.
We just had a long interview with Steve Porcaro who left the band after their 'Seventh One' album in 1988. He came back a few years ago and is as important or maybe even more valuable than he was before. In part four of our chat I remind Steve of the importance of 'The Seventh One” to me. My review of the album served as my first professional writing gig, it was a soundtrack to my divorce and remains one of my favorite albums of all time. Clip 009
