Hi, welcome to ForB's English lesson video. My name is Kevin, and today we are gonna look at how to use go, do, and play with sports. So here are some sports to look at: skiing, judo, basketball, karate, bowling, and golf. So which of these words go with those sports? What do you think? Is that your final answer!? Let's check.
Go skiing, go bowling, do judo, do karate, play basketball, play golf. But why? Why do we have? Why do we do it that way? Well, sports ending with "ing" are "go," and non-team sports that don't use a ball are "do," and sports that are team sports or do use a ball, are "play."
Now it's your turn. So which words go with these sports? The first one, kung fu, what goes with kung fu? Well, the answer, of course, is "do kung fu," and that's because it's a non-team sport, and we use "do."
The next one, swimming, what goes with swimming? Well, it is an "ing" ending word, there's your hint. So of course, it should be "go swimming."
And the last one: badminton, hmmm, difficult one, doesn't use a ball exactly but uses a bird, so it's kinda like a ball, so we say: "play badminton." OK? I hope you have it. I look forward to seeing you next time. Thank you very much!
