We visit Ogeunnae Dakgalbi which was in the Bib Gourmand Michelin Guide 2017. The meal is essentially spicy marinated chicken cooked in a huge pan on the table together with cabbage, rice cakes and other vegetables. The dakgalbi is wrapped up in lettuce and perilla leaves before eating as ssam (a wrap). The meal is served with side dishes (banchan) and you can opt to have rice added to the remaining sauce and chicken towards the end of your meal to create fried rice. Sundubu Jiigae
This soft tofu stew features fresh curds of tofu simmering in a fiery, warming broth. Served with rice and banchan this is one meal you don’t want to miss! We ate at Jaedong Soondubu, Jaedong 84-11, Jogno-gu, Seoul. Closest metro station: Anguk. Open 11:30am to 10:00pm. Closed Sunday.

Chicken and beer is a huge crowd favourite in Korea. Our favourite eateries are the small, local joints which serve beer, soju and fried chicken.
